A letter from Grandma

Hello everyone,

I have been busy learning and doing. As I have told you, the elders have been the secretaries in the office. They have been very glad that I came. That free's them up to do more teaching and they have a lot of families to teach. They are very busy. I am learning how to do so many things on the computer. How to create reports. I learned how to make a card that has a photo and all the info about each missionary. The President uses these cards for his transfer board. In his office he has a large white board that covers the whole wall and on it is every district and zone for every island. Then he has a card for each one of us. We had some new missionaries come in and we have some more the first of Dec. I know that all this stuff that I'm am learning you already know how to do. I have really enjoyed learning all these new things.

This last week I had the opportunity to go with the Elder's to teach. It's a family that is our neighbor. They don't have much, very poor. Sister Cassita and I bought them some food. It's a Mother and 5 children. The Father of the two younger children is not around much. When we met with them we did find out that the Father does go out fishing. As soon as we sat down in their house I a feeling I should say a prayer to myself for them. I prayed that their hearts would be softened to except what will be taught. Elder Olsen looked over at me and asked if I was okay. I know I had tears in my eyes. The Elders taught them about Jesus and how he love us and want to bless us. Elder Olsen asked me to share my testimony. I told them how I was a single Mother raising 4 children and how The Lord bless our lives. Oh, and the Father was there for this lesson. When we where done the Father said he would bring his family to Church on Sunday. It was a good night. I had been praying for this family. The Elder's had visited this family before with no success. This family needs a lot of help. They have no running water or indoor plumbing. In one of the rooms they are raising 3 adult pigs and 3 baby pigs. They don't have a yard. There are chickens that are there too.  We are hoping that we can help the Mother find a way to make money. Here you have to pay for school. The Mother still owes money for that. About $30-40. We still need to meet with the Mother to see what they need. The people are very humble here. I guess when you don't have much you are more humble. This week we should have 40 baptisms in the mission. Which is great.

Love and miss you all

Love, Sister McKnight
